What is nanotechnology to me? Nanotechnology has huge potential in many application, but the application that interests me most is the medical applications of it. Ever since I took a glimpse of Eric Drexler's 'Engines of Creation', I imagined little nanorobots floating inside the body fixing a problem here and there. I have always wanted to help people medically, but I realized being a doctor was not for me. First of all, the work they do is fascinating, but it seemed to methodical for me. In other words, it seemed that there was not much thought going into it. What I mean is that in medical school all you do is memorize procedures, symptoms, and what not. I wanted something that would challenge my mind, so I thought finding new ways to help the body through engineering would be more interesting. Nanotechnology is relatively new, so there is a lot to discover. My main interest is how nanotechnology could be used for genetic engineering. I would like to live for a long time, so my first concern is to find out a way to increase one's lifespan through genetic engineering with the aid of nanotechnology. Second of all, which is somewhat related to life extension, is to use nanotechnology to stop cancer at the genetic level. Anyway, that is my short take on the whole nanotechnology subject. Below are some links about nanotechnology that should be most useful. Tells you everything you need about nanotechnology and then some. A search engine dedicated to nanotechnology.
